Aftercare

The aftercare of your tattoo is just as important, if not more important, than getting the actual tattoo. Please keep in mind that tattoos are not permanent until they have fully healed. This means that if a tattoo doesn’t heal properly, it may not turn out as you wanted it to. This is why I also go over the proper aftercare steps in order for the tattoo to come out perfect.

Instructions: â€‹

-Always wash your hands before touching your fresh/healing tattoo.

-Wash the tattoo once in the morning, once at night using your clean hands to rub the soap on the tattoo in a soft circular motion until clean. (Paper towels, towels, cotton pads can be too abrasive and or leave behind fuzz)

-Rinse making sure to remove all soap.

-PAT the tattoo dry using a clean cloth, or paper towel.

-Apply a thin, thin, VERY THIN layer of unscented lotion to the tattoo. ((Lotions do work well to care for tattoos, but the problem is that too much can suffocate the area. The tattoo needs to air out in order to heal. If a large sum of lotion is often used over the tattoo, it can cause an infection.))((I recommend Unscented specifically because scented lotions may contain alcohols or other ingredients that may irritate broken skin))

-Once the tattoo is no longer an 'open wound' (~ 1.5 weeks) you can discontinue washing twice a day and just resume washing it once in the shower etc. When the tattoo appears dry, flakey, you can apply lotion to it.

- Your tattoo will go though an 'itchy' phase during its healing process, please do not itch, or pick at the healing skin, this can negatively impact the tattoo.

-Your tattoo will be completely healed in 3-4 weeks.

Other Aftercare:

-Do NOT Submerge in water, no swimming, no long baths, no hot tubs!

-Avoid direct sunlight, no sunbathing, tanning beds, etc! ((The sun will cause the tattoo to burn, scab, heal poorly, and also it will hurt))

-Best practice is to wear sunscreen on your healed tattoos when you are planning on tanning or being in the sun for an extended period of time to keep them looking their best!

If you have any questions about the aftercare of the tattoo, it’s essential that you contact me. I want to make sure that you have the best looking tattoo possible. As a tattoo artist, I can give you the best looking tattoo possible, but it is your responsibility to take care of the tattoo!
